GRE OR GMAT?

The most confusing question which lies ahead of an under-grad career is whether to opt for GRE or GMAT. Both the exams are given to study in abroad universities. Both has its advantages and disadvantages, pros and cons. so what to choose? which has the most lucrative career? which is more easy? which one is having job opportunities that are most reliable on long term basis and not affected by economic recession adversely? are some of the questions faced by a student while deciding their career option.

Well firstly, I would suggest you to follow your heart, your dreams, chase your dreams, do what you like doing and don't get affected by your peers decision or come under the influence of anyone be it your parents, because its in the end you who has to live with your decision, and if you chose an option which you don't find interesting then you might end up ruining your life, you won't do your job assiduously, won't get promotions and you won't be having any interest in trying your hands on new projects, which means a total disaster. So always make up your mind before applying. Do more and more research of the field which you want to have as career, contact your seniors and ask them their experiences or maybe you can go for counselling and after complete detailed analysis choose the option which you find perfect for you and which suits the best. I have seen people cursing their life for taking up the wrong field, a field which they either choose, because of great job opportunities or because they might not be having any idea of what to do and pick up the option by following the trend. So its you who has to decide your career, so buck up do research and go for the option in which you see yourself as successful person in next 10 years.

If you have a strong technical sides, if you done a lot of technical projects, and if your keenly interested in research and have also published research papers back in your alma mater then you should definitely go for higher studies in your field to gain more knowledge of the subject and explore more opportunities. For this GRE is given. Even if you don't have work experience in your field then also there is a high chance of getting into top 15 universities. GRE scored is valid for 5 years and if you don't score well in your first attempt then don't be disheartened because GRE gives you an opportunity to give the exam n number of times until you get a satisfactory score. The exams takes place 3 times a day and is scheduled on each day of the year except for Saturdays and Sundays. So you have opportunity to give the exam on any day you want and at any suitable time. And yes, remember TOEFL is mandatory exam which has to given along with GRE. TOEFL is pretty easy exam and if you are preparing GRE then TOEFL is damn easy to crack and score high marks.

Now the third option, GMAT! This is an exam given if you are interested in business side, if you want to develop managerial skills, if you want to be a marketing head of big MNC or if you want to go into accounts and manage financial work. This option does provide more lucrative jobs than GRE, but in this the companies are badly hit by recessions. People in large numbers lose their jobs and suffer from financial problems. Its not a reliable option for long term basis. It largely depends upon the economy of the country. If you want to earn more money in less amount of time then go for GMAT. But yes, a minimum of 2-3 years work experience is required if you want to get a seat in a very good university. All the top universities give preference to students who has more work experience and has more managerial skills than technical skills. GMAT exam schedule is same as GRE and yes, of course, TOEFL is mandatory.

So, choose your option accordingly and have a successful career.
